Favorite Products Roundup {June 2015}

Over the past couple of months, I’ve happened upon some awesome new products that I am currently loving! Since I love to share good finds and products I adore, I rounded them up for your viewing pleasure!

Based on the reader survey I posted last month, I know beauty products and product reviews aren’t necessarily the favorite posts of some of you guys and that was awesome feedback!

Instead of completely doing away with them, since some of you do enjoy them, I’ll plan to share a round up like this every couple of months instead of sprinkling in random reviews all the time.  How’s that sound?

This little roundup has a little bit of everything!  Some are on the high end side, but some are less than $10 at Target.  Either way, there’s something for everybody!

#1 | Baked Body Frosting by Laura Geller
I’ve become a HUGE fan of anything by Laura Geller and this stuff is no exception.  I have a very fair complexion, but in the interest of protecting my skin, I don’t lay out or do the tanning bed route.  I try to do self-tanners, but I just have no patience for them!

While I’ve embraced my ghost-like appearance over the years, I do love finding products that will give a quick boost and don’t require me to stand around naked for 15 minutes to go into effect (I ain’t got time for that!).

Laura Geller’s Baked Body Frosting is designed for the body, but works on the face just as well and gives a lovely, realistic bronzy glow.  You can go light or heavier (especially if you wet the puff!) so you can easily customize this to your own liking.  Love, love, LOVE this stuff!

#4 | Eyelash Boosting Serum by Lashem
I don’t know about you, but my lashes are not quite as plump and full as I’d love them to be.  However, about 6 months ago, they were at their worst.  If my mascara caused a few lashes to clump together, I felt like I had a gaping hole along my lash line!  It was bad.

So, I went online and looked for something to help boost lashes without chemicals or anything that can cause your eyes to change colors!

While this eyelash serum has mixed reviews, I have had very good success with it!  No…my lashes aren’t as lush and thick as I’d like, but they never will be.  But, after using this every night for 6 months, they’re noticeably fuller and I never have the ‘gaping hole’ issue even if my mascara clumps!

#5 | Triple C Peptide Firming Oil by Dr. Dennis Grossman
Now that I’m ‘getting older’, I’m starting to use some very specific anti-aging products.  I’m going to be fighting this process as much as possible!  My ghost like appearance that I just mentioned is definitely my friend in this area.  No one EVER thinks I’m the age I am and I haven’t started developing wrinkles (thank god!).  But, I do see some early changes in my skin, so time to get to work!

My research on fighting the aging process suggested using an oil with peptides.  Apparently, peptides are great for adding firmness to the skin.  I’ve used oil based products in the past and wasn’t overly thrilled (like argan oil) because it left me looking very shiny and oily (so I could only use them at night).

This firming oil, however, is perfection in a bottle!! It absorbs beautifully with no lingering shine.  My skin feels ah-mazing after I apply this product and I have to say, it is looking brighter and more youthful!  I use it on my face and neck both morning and night.

#10 | Miracle Worker Retinoid Pads & Solution by Philosophy
Another thing I discovered in my research is that once you get in your 40s, it’s best to introduce a retinol product into your regime.  Since I just turned 40, it was time to follow that sage advice.

These little pads by Philosophy are awesome!  After cleansing my skin at night, I just swipe one of these over my face, neck, chest, and backs of my hands.  I’ve been using it for almost a month and I can definitely tell my skin is smoother, clearer, and more even (and then I follow it up with the Peptide oil and a moisturizer).

#2 | Voluminous Extra Volume Collagen Mascara by L’Oreal
I am super picky when it comes to mascaras and it has always been difficult to find a really good one that both plumps up my puny lashes and sticks around all day.  While I have a few faves, they’re all pretty pricey.

Several of you guys recommended L’Oreal’s Voluminous mascara in comments on past posts, so I had to give it a try!!  You guys are right…this stuff is pretty awesome!  It does exactly what I need and want, but it doesn’t break the bank (and I love that I can pick it up at Target instead of a pricier store!).

Thanks for the suggestion ladies!  If you’re in need of a good mascara, then definitely give this one a try!

#6 | Luminous Veil Cream Stick Foundation by Laura Geller
Yep…Laura Geller is making my list again!  If you’ve read my blog for awhile, you’ll know I am particularly partial to a certain foundation.  Until now, I hadn’t found another to rival it’s awesomeness, but Laura Geller’s Luminous Veil Cream Stick foundation is fabulous!

It’s so good in fact, that I haven’t used the other foundation since I got this one.  I love how smooth and creamy my skin looks.  I also love that it’s in a stick!  It’s a little less messy, it feels lighter on my face, and next time I travel, my 3 oz or less baggy will have a bit more space!

#7 | Mega Shine Lipgloss by NYX (color: Cosmo)
I know I’ve mentioned it before, but I’ll say admit it again.  I have a wee bit of an obsession with lipglosses.  It’s really hard for me to bypass a pretty gloss when I unfortunately spot one (I honestly try not to look these days, but it’s right there…taunting me…I swear!).

I was in Target the other day (and you know what happens in Target…they somehow get you to buy a cart full of stuff when you only go in for ONE thing!!  How the heck do they do that??) and somehow ended up in the makeup aisle.

I LOVE NYX lipgloss…in fact they’re my favorite brand.  I didn’t realize Target carried NYX, so when I saw the display, I couldn’t not check it out.  And of course, this lovely new number came home with me!  The color is Cosmo and it’s gorgeous neutral with a lovely shimmer.  It’s going to be my new go-to gloss!

#8 | Instant Eye Lift by Trish McEvoy
This Instant Eye Lift product came in a kit that I bought awhile ago.  I never really used it much, but recently decided to give it another go.  Ummmm….this stuff is awesome!

You can use this as an under eye concealer, or if it’s a particular dark baggy day, you can use this under your regular concealer for an extra little pep.  I love that it brightens up the area under my eye, blends in perfectly, and doesn’t look like I’m wearing concealer.  Seriously loving this stuff!!

#9 | INKcredible Waterproof Gel Eyeliner by Laura Geller
I hope you’re not sick of my raving about Laura Geller’s products yet, because I have another one!!  I got this amazing eyeliner as a free gift at Ulta when I bought one of her kits.

It’s a black eyeliner and while I normally wouldn’t wear a black, I like to use it just at the lash line to boost my poor little lashes and make them appear thicker.  It totally does the trick and since it’s waterproof, it sticks around all day!  Yet, it easily washes off with my makeup remover pads at the end of the night.  Win-win!

#3 | Perfect Hair Day 5-in-1 Styling Treatment by Living Proof
In the past I’ve had mixed results with Living Proof products.  Some have been awesome, some have been disappointing.

When I received a sample of this a few months ago, my expectations were middle of the road, but this Perfect Hair Day stuff did just that…gave me a perfect hair day!  Every time I use this, my hair looks awesome!!

What are the ‘5’ treatments you might be asking? According to Living Proof…smoothness, volume, conditioning, strength and polish are the keys to a perfect hair day and they deliver this in this little product that packs a punch!  It is my new must-have product in my hair products line up!

Alright girls…lay it on me! What are YOUR favorite products these days?

All the products sound great but I love the idea of the pads by philosophy as I think they would be perfect on the many long haul flights I do. Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, those little retinoid pads are awesome!! I was afraid they’d dry my skin out by using them every night (and I already tend to be on the dry side) but no dryness, just nice clear, bright skin! And…you pour the liquid on it as soon as you open the container of pads, so there’s no liquid/bottle to deal with when going through security (win-win!). Enjoy your travels!

I am highly, highly intrigued by this Laura Gellar body frosting. I feel all the same things you do regarding tanning/bronzing, etc. This sounds like a great item for us fair ladies to have in the summer. Thanks for the recommendation!

It really is awesome! I’ve been using a big bronzer brush instead of the puff to lightly brush it on my chest/collarbone area and on the tops of my arms and it just gives a lovely hint of color without looking crazy!

I know!! ‘Frosting’ makes it sound so yummy, lol. And yeah…Target…I have such a love/hate relationship with them! I love them, but my wallet hates them!!!

AWESOME list…and I am SO going to try the Laura Geller tanning product! Excited for something that looks great and doesnt make you stand still for 30 minutes to wait for it to dry! I also cant stand that! haha…. And, I also am a lipgloss junkie so I am going to need to try the NYX one. Never tried one of their products – so I think its time! xx, Karen // Glam Karen

NYX is the BEST!!! LOL…and only rings in at like $4.99 or something like that. They have matte/creamy one and shimmery ones in so many pretty colors. If you have an Ulta near you, they have a ton of their glosses! Target didn’t have quite as many, but maybe that was just my location :). And, yeah, the body bronzer is so nice…all of her products give such a nice color, but this is perfect for sweeping on the chest/collarbone, tops of arms, etc. I haven’t actually tried it by wetting the puff and applying it like that yet (other than a quick test on my arm to see how it worked!), but it’s on my list once it warms up a tad more!!

    Chelsie says

I like beauty round up posts like this! It’s a lot of information to read in one sitting! I’ve been meaning to try Living Proof’s products for a while; my hair always needs some extra loving. Maybe I will get to it this month! My shampoo is almost gone! Also, NYX glosses are my weakness. I love them all.

If you have a Sephora near you, Chelsie, hit them up for a sample of the Living Proof product to make sure you like it first!! They’re great about that and they usually give a nice sized sample too! :)

I really like reading round up posts like this once in awhile, what I don’t like much is very long reviews about a single product. Especially when it’s a product I cannot relate to 😉 But short and to the point speed review round ups are great.

I’ll have to try the L’Oreal Mascara, as mascara is the only make up product I use every single day. All the rest is optional.

Thanks Alex!! My lashes are on the pale side, so I’m like you…if nothing else, I HAVE to have mascara on or I’d scare small children, hehehe.

Great post! I love most of these products and use them often. You just reminded me I’m almost out of Living Proof!!! I need to get me some of that good stuff asap. 😀
