May Faves & June Plans

It’s the 1st of the month and that means checking in on last month’s goals (to see how I did) and getting ready for June with some new objectives!  To keep myself accountable and because you guys seem to like taking a peek at what’s on my plate, I share those goals and how I did…every single month!  Just in case you’re curious how I did with my goals for May…keep on reading (spoiler alert…check, check, and check!)!

Last week, I took a bit of a blogger vacation and took some time off from sharing new posts.  I needed to take  step back to be able to focus on new things for my website and it was a super productive time.  I’m glad to be back to writing this week and I’m beyond exciting on the changes that will be coming!

May was a fantastic month!!  In addition to getting a lot done, I had some amazing things happen and some new opportunities pop up (they’re still a bit in flux, so I can’t quite share news on anything yet!).

One of those exciting things, as I’ll explain in my goals for June, is that I’m currently knee deep in a redesign and rebrand for my website!  I’m SO excited about it, I want to work on it in my sleep (seriously…cool stuff is a comin’!), but I’m trying to remember to keep a balance and do other things as well.  So far, that’s really helping me to be even more productive.

So…curious how May went and what’s up for June?  Let’s take a look!

Here’s what you were loving…

It’s always fun to look back and see which posts people liked best.  These were the four top posts that I published last month, so if you missed one, be sure to check them out!

How’d I Do on my May Goals?

It seems like whenever I have more on my plate, I get more done, so I planned things out and made things happen.  When I shared my goals for May last month, I was hoping I wasn’t putting too much on my plate since I had a few classes starting up as well.

But, I made sure to plan things out, kept my focus sharp and then just got things done!  I love it when I end up finishing what I set out to do and feeling that sense of accomplishment!

 Healthy Goals  | Get Serious {SUCCESS}
I did good with this goal this month!  I started walking a lot more and I now have a couple of favorite paths at a park near my house.  I also started a 21 day workout program (I’m still in the middle of it) and I’ve been consistently working out and eating healthier.

I do still have some room to improve, but I definitely took this goal to task and got a LOT more serious about it!  This month, I plan to do even more!

 Blogging Goals  | Prep to open my Etsy Shop on JUNE 1 {FAIL}
Yes, I failed this goal but with a good reason.  I actually have everything ready for my new shop…but, after some blog soul searching and starting a new blog/business class, I realized to take my website to the next level, I need to do a total rebrand.  Since that will involve a new name and design, I thought it’d be best to save the shop release for after I launch my new site so I can have a consistent branding between the two.

So…my Etsy shop won’t open today, but it’s just a slight delay because better things are coming!  I will have to go through and update all my printables to align with my new brand before I can launch my shop, so I’m aiming for an end of August release!  I’ll be sure to keep you posted :).

 Travel Goals  | Plan TWO European Trips {SUCCESS}
There’s a slight changes with this goal.  Last month I mentioned I would be heading to Paris for a work conference in June and I’d be tacking on a few extra days for a little solo traveling.  Well…the work trip was postponed to a later date (still undetermined at this time), so I’m down to just planning for one European trip.

For the trip my friend and I are going on in September, we booked our flights and our accommodations so we’ve got the bulk of the heavy lifting done!  Now we just have to sort out our travel arrangements between cities and start figuring out exactly what we want to see and do during our various stops.  But, there’s not a huge rush on those, so we can let things settle a bit, then dive back in later this summer.

 Fun Goals  | Get Outside {SUCCESS}
I definitely took advantage of the nice weather this month and got myself outside more!  As I mentioned in my ‘healthy’ goals above, I started getting in some walks at my local park.  Also, a coworker-friend and I have started grabbing Starbucks in our building and taking a break outside in the courtyard on nice days.  So, mission accomplished!

 Home Goals  | Organize my Living Room {NULL}
You might be wondering why I have ‘null’ as my status on this one…well…it’s because I didn’t really attack my living room, but I did dive into a different room.  My living room doesn’t have that much that needs to be addressed, so I’m not too worried about it.  But, I did make a lot of headway in my spare bedroom (that has been on my list FOREVER!).  There’s still more to do, but I’m really happy to have gotten started on this and to have made a good dent in my goals for that room.

 Other Goals  | Stay Focused! {SUCCESS}
Since I had so much on my plate last month, I needed to stay focused.  Since I achieved pretty much all of my goals and took on the task of starting a rebrand of my website, I think you can safely say that I accomplished this goal!

My Plans for June

I have two really big goals for June (the two blogging goals) and those will take the bulk of my time this month.  I’m trying to keep the rest of my plate a little light to make sure I have time to focus on my main objectives!

 Blogging Goals  | Rebrand & Relaunch my Website
I’m hoping it’s realistic to plan for a launch of my new site by July 1.  But, I do have a lot of posts that will need updating to switch out the old branding and name, so this might cause it to go into July.  I hope not, because I’m really excited about it, so I’ll be pushing myself to make this happen and not piling too many other goals on my plate.

 Blogging Goals  | Get my first e-Course Ready!
That’s right…you read that right…I’m going to be offering e-Courses very soon!  I’m working on my first one now and it’s for lifestyle bloggers and I’m really excited about it :).  Watch for more information on this on Wednesday when I give you a little taste of it.

My plan is to open this for registration after my new site goes live, so this course won’t happen until later this summer.  But, if you’re a lifestyle blogger, you’ll want to check it out!

 Home Goals  | More de-Cluttering
I got a lot done in May, but I want to keep the momentum going!  My plan is to use my breaks in my blog redesign work and eCourse work to dive into a few trouble spots and get them cleared out.  We’ll see how it goes!  If something has to fall off the list, these decluttering goals tend to be the victim.

 Healthy Goals  | Keep Going
My goal for this one is simple…keep it going!  I want to keep up  with my workouts and eat even healthier.  Fortunately, in summertime, I crave salads more, so that should help!

 Fun Goals  | Random Stuff!
Basically, I want to be sure I’m making time for some fun given the heavy amount of work I have on my plate for June.  I already have plans for next Sunday to go to a Country Living Fair in Rhinebeck, NY with one of my favorite people that I know!  I’m also hoping I can spot a good last minute deal for a weekend away that’s within driving distance to me.  I’d love to get away for a bit and do some exploring (while still carving out time to do some website work, lol).

Reader Survey Results

I want to start out by saying THANK YOU to those that were kind enough to take my reader survey last week (and if you missed it…it’s not too late! Just click HERE to tell me what you think!).  Your answers were incredibly helpful and I will be basing some of my changes based on your awesome feedback.

Here’s a summary of what you guys think…

Who you are:  All of the respondents were female (no surprise there!) and mostly in your 20s and 30s.  You are pretty much all bloggers (but not all!) and the majority of you are lifestyle bloggers.  You guys are pretty regular readers, from once a week to several times a week (thank you!!) which makes me so happy to hear!

What you like to read:  The top categories and topics that you guys like reading are blogging (advice, tips & tricks) and goal setting/time management.  These were also that topics that ranked the highest in what you’d like to read more of.  This makes my heart soar because these are my favorite topics to write about!!

What you don’t like to read (as much):  The main things you guys don’t enjoy as much are the posts on beauty products, subscription boxes, and accessories.  And, no surprise, these topics were the top three for what you’d like to read about less.

Problems you’d like solved:  Across the board, the comments you guys left tell me you want more help with your blogs.  I hear you loud and clear on this one!

My takeaways:  I am so happy that I did this survey because it really confirmed that I’m on the right path.  I LOVE writing about goal setting & time management as well as blogging, so expect more posts on these topics.  I will still do some posts here and there on beauty products and accessories, but I’ll do them a little less frequently and I have some ideas to make those posts a tad more interesting :).

For those of you that are looking for more on the blogging/goal setting/time management topics, you are going to LOVE my rebrand!  I’ll talk more about it as I get closer, but essentially I’ll be staying a lifestyle blogger, but will really hone in on those topics as well as a healthy does of self-love/motivation/girl power since I think that is so important. As a lifestyle blogger, I’ll still share other stuff from travel posts to things I love from time to time to keep it a nice, interesting mix, but the focus of my posts will lean a lot more towards those main topics :).

3dots

Your turn, friends! What are YOUR goals for June? I’d love to hear all about them, so leave me some comments below and let’s chat it out!

    I also tend to be more productive when my to-do list is very long! I have been struggling lately because I’m not as busy as I used to be. Anyway, I can’t wait to learn more about that blogging e-course project of yours!

      Don’t you hate that? You’d think it’d be the opposite right, lol? But, I guess that’s good in a way since we know we can knock things out when super busy! It sounds a little weird to say this, but i hope your to-do list fills up a bit more soon, hehehe. And yes! I can’t wait to give more info about my e-course! It’s going to be a lot of fun! I’ll be sharing info in the coming weeks!

    Oh I love redesigns! I cannot wait to see what you come up with! Too fun 😀

    I took a break as well and visited with family in Indiana. It was a nice reboot and I feel I can come back and hit the ground running.

      Thanks Kat!! You won’t even recognize my site when it’s done, lol. Taking that week was just what I needed and while I worried about it ‘affecting my numbers’ I knew it’d be temporary and having that break was more important. Looking at my stats over the weekend…it didn’t take a hit at all, which surprised me! I may have to do this once a quarter for planning and project work!

    First off, so glad you’re back from your break! I hope you enjoyed your time away! Sounds like you were super productive this past month. So smart of you to delay your Etsy shop opening until you re-brand. I can’t wait to see the new design. I have also been thinking of opening an Etsy shop for my vintage finds. I had never really thought about how much work goes into opening an Etsy shop (if you do it right) until I truly considered opening one myself, so I commend you on waiting. Doing all that work just to have to re-do everything would be a big pain. I’ve got some reading, some housekeeping, and some blogging goals coming up this month (although I feel like that’s on my list constantly, haha!)… =)

      Thanks Miranda!! Glad to hear I’m making the right call on the Etsy shop…other than creating the shop, I didn’t do much else with it and was working on the stuff I planned to sell. So, I’ll be keeping this in mind once I am able to turn my attentions back to this later on!

      Sounds like you have a busy, but not too busy month coming up, which is good…you’ll be able to get out and enjoy the early summer! :)

    Oh wow you really do have some amazing stuff coming up! Two Europe trips? Jealous! I really can’t wait to hear about your trips! I am excited to see what you do with your site! I really like how you share your goals on here! It’s really organized and probably helps to keep you focused each month. I am so excited for you and all the things you have coming up!

      Thanks Ashley! This definitely helps me to get my plans organized for the month, but it also helps me see how much I accomplished in the previous month. It’s so easy to get caught up on what you don’t get done that you get distracted and don’t see things happening! So, it’s fun to take a peek back :).

      I’ll definitely share more about the new site soon and with the trips once I take them! Thanks! :)

      I know!! Weren’t we just celebrating New Years? lol…I think I spend so much time wishing winter gone that when it hits June it’s like ‘whoa, what just happened?!’, but in January, it seems SO far away! Hope you enjoy your summer!

    Yay! 😀 Super excited for you on that rebrand + redesign! :] I have a tendency to over-stuff my goals so that even if I fall short on finishing everything, I still get a ton done! :]

      Thanks Farrah! Glad to know there are other chronic to-do over listers out there, lol. But, since you’re a med student, I think you’re totally justified in that department! :) But, at least we get stuff done, right :)!

    Good luck with your relaunch! I just launched a very minor redesign/rebranding for my site and it feels so good! I love when things come together and you feel motivated and passionate about what makes you happy!

      Thanks Chelsie! I’m excited about it and wish I could just snap my fingers and have it done because I’m looking forward for everyone to see it, lol. But, I’m even more looking forward to feeling like my blog & the name aligns with my passions and what I write about, so you’re exactly right! :)

      Thanks Taylor!! The new brand and site will better reflect (at least in my eyes, lol) what I actually write about and I think it’ll be better for growing and doing even more stuff! THANK YOU for signing up for more info on the course! I hope to start sharing info on it within 2-3 weeks :).
